Social Media Posting Sweet Spots

Here we go again. A client sent us the grid above yesterday about the best times to post on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, based on overall data by said platforms on when the most people are on their platforms and posting, etc. You don't need to see the data they presented, so we purposely loaded it below in a very small image, because it's irrelevant. We know you though, and if we put it in big and bold, you would take it in and believe it.

As with all things in life and the pursuit of excellence, overall data, when not broken down by segments in the markets you are serving, is wasted data.

When do YOUR people go online? Do you sell to the mommy market, where 6 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. are the sweet spots? Or, are you a biz service where 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. are the buzz times along with 4:00 p.m? Men or women? Those who work at home versus in an office? Are you posting content or products? And, on and on and on.

If it were as easy as reading overall data from Facebook about when the huddled masses are on and engaging, our job would be irrelevant. It's about analyzing YOUR data, around YOUR past uploads, to YOUR market segment and acting on that data. In other words, you gotta do the homework.

Yes, yes, we know, we know. We feel your pain and your to do lists longer than your life spans. And, so it is and will always be. But we can also say that data is fun, and when you nail the post and the timing of said post, and you can see it in the data, it's a feeling of success and excellence that makes it a good day indeed.
